What to Pack for a Day in the Keweenaw

Conditions here can swing fast, so packing well is half the battle. Here’s the short list we give every guest.

Dress in Layers

A moisture-wicking base, a warm mid-layer, and a windproof, waterproof shell. The lake pulls heat fast, and a north wind can drop the temperature in minutes — even in summer.

Protect the Edges

Hat, gloves, and sturdy, waterproof footwear. Your hands and feet are the first to go cold on the water or the shore.

The Little Things

Water, a packed snack, sunglasses, and sunscreen — the glare off the lake is no joke. If you’re fishing, bring a valid Michigan license. The rest of the gear, we’ve got covered.
